February 2012 favorites - Beauty

So, I'll skip January after all cause Fabruary is almost done and I'll switch them since I was more chilling than digging new stuff during holidays! XD (not to mention the winter finals) I tried to have a wide range in beauty products and I narrowed the reaaaally long list I had into the Top 10.

1st - Maybelline Colossal Waterproof Mascara

Maybelline, maybelline.com
I've had the non waterproof version of this a long time ago and I wasn't very satisfied with it. Firstly, it was very flaky and the consistancy was a bit like glue. And it was a bit disappointing cause I really liked the result of the volume that was giving. This on the other hand is a very much improved version of this mascara, cause the consistancy changed- it's a bit more liguidy, which means no flakes (YEAH!). The drawback is that it's not really waterproof but more of water-resistant so I wouldn't be recommending it for a summer mascara when someone wants something on their eyes on the beach, but still the result is better than the original one.

2nd - L' Oreal Paris Color Infailible Eyeshadow

L' Oreal Paris

I was looking for a nice glittery gold eyeshadow cause gold is working in most skin types and I came across the new eyeshadow line of L' Oreal. I got the color in the 027 Goldmine just to try it out and it's simply amazing. It has a very silky finish and the glitter is not chunky at all (cause it looked chunky from the outside of the package, BELIEVE ME!). Also, it applys so easily cause it doesn't really give you so many fall-outs as I expected, although you got to keep an eye on that now and then.

3rd - Cosmopolitan Eyelash Curler

Cosmopolitan, superdrug.com

Cosmo has a line for beauty tools, who knew? I DIDN'T!! XD I was kind of surprised when I came across a whole section of these products and I was even more surprised after I looked at their prices cause they are REAAAALLY cheap. And since I was lucking a eyelash curler I bought this for only 3 euros or so and have my tool collection full again.

4th - Too Faced Primed & Poreless Primer

toofaced.com

Ok, I had to try this product just because everyone was talking crazy about it. But it is true after all! I can also say from now on that it's the best primer I've ever tried. If you're familiar with the running or fadind effect your foundation does even if you powder a lot, forget about it with this one! All magically gone!! The one problem that I have with this and keeps me from saying that I'll re-buy it after it's gone is the price. Just the bottle of 28 gr costed 30 euros. Seriously, the bottle is TINY! For now I'm using it only for special occassions. Maybe I'll get it again if I'm in a very desperate situation (or when I win the lottary!)

5th - Garnier's Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream

Garnier
Now that's a product I'm re-buying for sure. I use this every morning after my moisturizer and it totally does what it promises- hydrates, covers (not full, it's just a cream for God's ache!), gives an even and vibrant skin complaction, and contains SPF. You can leave it as it is and start your day, or can add a little bit of your foundation or just concealer for that extra coverage on blemishes, dark circles etc. And just a little bit of another product, which means saving more for another time! ;) And it works for all skin types, for me, the sensitive oily skinned gal with acne, to my best friend with flacky dry skin.

6th - Apivita's Mask For Young Oily Skin With Propolis

Apivita Express Masks
As I mentioned before, I have really oily skin with allergy reactions and breakouts now and then, but this stuff right there is my life savor!! It evens out my skin so perfectly just by using it one whole month once a week. And since I'm still continuing to use it, it helps to even reduce old scars from acne and all that thanks to the propolis it contains. You can find your own skin type in Apivita's Express Masks in a very reasonable price.

7th - Clinique Turnaround Instant Facial
www.clinique.com
And yes, yet another mask, from a tube this time. But this one is totally different cause I strongly believe that with a bit of advertising this product could be in the best sellers list right next to the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion/Gel. This is the greatest stuff I've tried when I want that instant brightness on my skin. It's quick (only 5 minutes on your skin), it's easy (just massage your skin with the product before let it dry), the color is not a crazy freaking-out shade (colorless) and the results... Mm-hm!!

8th - Clinique Fresh Bloom Allover
www.clinique.com
I admit it, even though make up is my hobby and I love doing it, sometimes I wake up in the morning just feeling too bored to bother with it. That's why I look for something that I can use all over my face and get done and feel polished and fresh. I have a wide collection of stuff that are multi-useable and this is my latest addition. I use the center of the flower and the petals to shade my eyes for that effortless every day smokey eye and the backround as a highlighter for about anywhere on my face- eyebrow bone, cheeks, bridge of the nose, cupid's bow etc. The three colors combined make a lovely blush color that make your cheeks look healthy.

9th - Oriflame's Tender Care Lip Balm

gr.oriflame.com
I don't know what's with this product that really got me. The texture, that is gelly soft? The smell, which is like vanilla? The feel of full lips after the use? Maybe all those together? Don't know really! :P

10th - Tommy Hilfinger's "Tommy Girl" Perfume

Tommy Hilfinger
This brings back all my childhood memories which are full of that scent, cause my Mom had a huge crush on this perfume. I got it as a birthday present from my aunt and the clean woody and spicy scent made me abbandon my beloved Burberry's "The Beat" for a little while. I even carry it around with me in my bag, imagine the obssession! XD

So this is it! I hope you find some of the info useful. ;) Enjoy!

January 2012 favorites - Music

Let's do a recup then of the favorites of the month that passed, and of course we start with music, songs that I just couldn't stop listening to.

1st - Rihanna: We Found Love

Ok, I get it, that song is simply contagious. It's like getting under your skin or something like that and you can't stop dancing to it! XD Especially the first lyric gets into your head and brings you this beautiful mental picture: "Yellow diamonds in the light..." So pretty!

2nd - Alex Day: Forever Yours

Alex Day, a well known YouTuber and musician from the UK, produced this song which landed in the 4th place in the UK charts, which is REALLY awesome for someone that is not signed in a record company and doesn't have any publicity except YouTube! If you don't know him or the song, click on it and enjoy the brainwash! ;)

3rd - Jessie J: Domino

I seriously don't know what I love the most in this song- the lyrics, the smooth bass, Jessie's insane vocals? All of them together? Don't know! Alla I know is that this song is officially one of my most favorites and I'll be listening to it till the end of time! (corny much? XD ) hahahahaha

4th - Bruno Mars: It Will Rain

NO, I didn't learn about this song from the freaking Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn movie! I'm just a heart and soul Hooligan (meaning loyal Bruno Mars' fan). This boy's touch turn anything into gold, and of course this song wouldn't be an exception. You definately gotta love Mr. Mars!

5th - AIR: Playground Love

A return to all time classics, like Air music. Do you have one of those songs, that you used to listen to in the radio when you were younger but had no idea who was the artist nor the name of the song? Or maybe you have lots of them like me? Well, one of them was Playground Love for me, so relaxing and beautiful that just gets printed in your mind.

6th - Joan Jett And The Blackhearts: Do You Wanna Touch Me

And NO again, I didn't get that from Glee (although I was pretty impressed they did Joan Jett and it wasn't I Love Rock 'N' Roll or Hate Myself For Loving You!). Joan is also a singer from my childhood cause my Mom loves her music and she passed the love to me. Joan is all about the freedom of women, and this song says straight forward what you want (IF you know what I mean! XD )

7th - Flo Rida: Good Feeling

This is a song that makes me wanna learn EVERY freaking lyric and sing it all day long! The message is just so catchy, that when you listen to it you just want to go in a club and dance THAT moment! XD

8th - Foster The People: Pumped Up Kicks

There's not a single person in the earth that hasn't heard that song, I'm sure about it. And there's not a single person that hasn't whistled the tune or mumbled the chorus, for that I'm certained.

9th - Phoenix: 1901

I'm not sure if lots of people know about this song, but it is so cool. I listened to it randomly in the radio and I got hooked with it. Phoenix is a British band, the kind that writes that kind of music, the one that is so indie and the lyrics are so catchy that you can't do any other way but listen to it! :P

10th - Gotye: Somebody That I Used To Know

And lastly, another unknown song which I'm sure is going to be very popular in the following weeks. The guys vocals are simply amazing and the message is clear: "You're not the same, BITCH, you're just somebody that I used to know! "

Jessie J's "Who You Are" Fashion Inspired

Jessica Ellen Cornish (born in 27 of March 1988), better known by her stage name Jessie J, is one of the beat female artists in the current mysic bussiness. She is an English R&B and soul recording artist who rose to fame having written songs for many artists. She is currently signed to Island Records. She studied at the BRIT School for many years.

Jessie's album "Who You Are" is her first solo album which is going really well for the last two years both in Europe and US. Her big hits, "Do It Like A Dude", "Price Tag" with B.o.B. and "Who's Laughing Now" made everone dance. So these are three different outfits inspired by these tracks.

Look No.1: "Do It Like A Dude"

"Do It Like A Dude" is very dynamic song with the "girl power" message all over it. So edgeness is requiered! Studs, spikes, Doc Martens and an old-school satchel bag in bright colors are the best accessories for this outfit.

Look No.2: "Price Tag"

The cheerful beat of "Price Tag" makes us think of happy things, like kids and sunshine etc. The song says "You got your shades on your eyes, and your heels so high that you can't even have a good time", so I prefer to follow Jessie's words and go for flat comfy sandals. The casual tee (notice the ironic message it has?: "Let them eat cake", words of Marie Anduanette when she was told that the people of Paris were starving) and the tight skirt give a more urban look, combined with the cropped jacket.

Look No.3: "Who's Laughing Now"

"Who's Laughing Now" is all about confidence- gained confidence, after a lot of difficult situations. And to achieve this kind of confidence, it's better to work with items you know you feel comfortable in, like tight pants and a leather jacket (all time favorite for most). The colorful and bold accessories will give a more unique touch in the outfit.

Jessie J's Beauty

Jessie's hairstyle is bold and fresh. Jet black mostly straight hair, chin length, with bangs. And to achieve that, this is a very interesting video I found in YouTube for hair makeovers!

As for her make up, Jessie's distinguish do is having colored lips and dark eyes. There are very helpful videos in YouTube, such as:

My top 5 Make-Up YouTubers

Today I got my YouTube Monthly Digest e-mail and I got an idea. I wanna list my top favorite YouTubers, people like me and you who share their ideas, opinions and skills with everyone. And first of all, as a girly girl that I am, this is my "Top 5 Make-Up YouTubers". These girls have not only helped me do miracles on my face with just few products, but also helped me find my lost self-esteem and I hope they'll do the same for you.

1st - Michelle Phan

Seriously, this girl is my freaking guru! I truly believe that she can do miracles with just one product in her hands (well, DUH, she already has done that according to the video! XD ) She's the reason why my University and ID pictures are looking great although a had a nasty spot on my right cheek, and how every year in Halloween I have the most dramatic make up on. And she doesn't do just make up videos. In her channel you can find anything about beauty, from fashion tips and ideas to how to make your own blush out of chocolate drink mix (!).

2nd - panacea81

Lauren Luke (panacea81) was one of the first YouTubers that I discovered. I wanted to find the make up look of Hayley Williams of Paramore in the "Misery Bussiness" video, and Lauren had made a fantastic video of that. In this channel you'll find any look from your favorite celebs, as well more looks that compliment your eyes, complexions etc.

3rd - pixi2woo

Pixi2woo, or esle Tanya Burr, is a British beauty addict that also tries to recreate the looks of celebs and models from famous commercials. If you're a practical gal that wants something quick for your full coming day, this is your gal! In less than ten minutes, you can have the results that you see in TV or magazines with just very little products in your hands, and a girl that does something like that is definately someone to appreciate.

4th - JLovesMac1

Ok, this girl is the real deal!! I just LOOOOOOOOOOVE that chica!! Her videos are just so hilarious that I cry from laughter. And her beauty tips always come handy, from what to do when you're too lazy to put make up on, to how to shave your legs properly. And all that with lots and lots of funny lines. ;)

5th - MissChievous

And this is our final miracle worker, and I say that with every meaning of the word. She does not only make up but anything else you can imagine, nails, weight conrol, skin treatments, ANYTHING! And her Halloween looks, MAN, that is something you should try once in your life to say years later that "Yeah. I once dressed up like a mearmaid, and boy I looked good!" XD

So, who do you think is your favorite make up YouTube guru? Let me know to check out!

Παρασκευή 20 Ιανουαρίου 2012
